Terms of Service

last updated: 2026-09-03 · beta draft, plain-language summary, not yet reviewed by counsel

The service

Faultybox provides time-boxed assessment sessions on disposable infrastructure, with automated grading and session replay. The service is in private beta: features may change, break, or be removed without notice.

No SLA in beta

The service is provided "as is" during the beta, with no uptime commitment and no service-level agreement. We are aware of the irony of a reliability-assessment product saying this, and we are saying it anyway because it is true.

Interview credits and expiry

Hiring-team plans are sold as interview credits. One credit is consumed when a candidate starts a session, not when you send an invite: invites that are never opened cost nothing. Free-tier sessions and invites work the same way.

Credits purchased on any paid plan, Starter, Team or Scale, do not expire. They remain on your account until they are used, for as long as the account exists, and we will not retire them by changing this policy later. There is no annual term and no monthly reset.

A candidate practice pack is a one-time purchase of a fixed number of labs. Those labs do not expire either: they remain on the account until they are run. It is not a subscription and does not auto-renew.

Refunds

Unused interview credits are refundable in full within 30 days of purchase, on request. Credits already consumed by a started session are not refundable. Candidate Practice access is refundable in full within 14 days of purchase if you have not completed a paid lab.

If a session fails for a reason on our side, such as an environment that will not boot or dies mid-session, the credit is returned automatically and the session does not count against you. Email support@faultybox.com for anything a refund should cover and does not.

Who sees a report

For a session a hiring team invites a candidate to, the report and command timeline belong to that hiring team and are visible only to them. Sharing feedback with the candidate is the hiring team's decision, not ours.

For a lab a candidate runs on their own free or Practice plan, the report belongs to the candidate and no employer sees it. The two are kept separate, and running practice labs never reveals anything to a company that has invited you.

Acceptable use

Break the environments we give you, that is the point. Do not attack the platform itself, other users' sessions, or use the infrastructure for anything other than the assessment (no mining, no hosting, no outbound abuse).

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Faultybox is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the beta. Hiring decisions are yours; the report is signal, not a verdict.
